We offer a wide range of diagnostic imaging and tests to support the assessment of your health and help identify medical conditions promptly.
Some tests may be performed during your consultation, while others may need to be arranged for a future date and time that suits you.
Results are typically available within 24 hours, although more complex tests may take longer. If you would like to discuss your results in detail, a follow-up appointment will be required.
In conjunction with New Hall Hospital, we have access to a full range of diagnostic imaging — including X-rays, ultrasound scans, CT scans, and MRIs. This allows us to offer significantly reduced waiting times compared with the NHS, with many investigations often available within one week — and some, such as plain X-rays of the chest or joints, often performed on the same day.
If, after discussion with your private GP, you choose to proceed with diagnostic imaging, we can arrange this for you during your appointment.
Please note, imaging fees are payable directly to New Hall Hospital.
If you intend to use private medical insurance, please check with your insurer in advance that imaging requested by a private GP is covered.
If blood tests are required, these may be taken at the end of your appointment or scheduled for a future date. We will email or phone you with the results when they are available. If the results require a longer discussion or you wish to discuss your results further, we may need to switch to a paid follow-up appointment.

An ECG (electrocardiogram) is a simple, non-invasive test used to record the electrical activity of your heart. It can help detect signs of previous heart damage — such as from a heart attack — or identify abnormalities in the heart’s electrical pathways, such as irregular heart rhythms including atrial fibrillation (AF).
If you require a standard ECG, this can be arranged before or after your face-to-face consultation, or on a separate day if you prefer. The ECG itself takes around 15 minutes and is carried out by the nursing staff in the main Outpatients Department.
Please contact us by clicking here or email us at [email protected] if you would like to arrange an ECG prior to your appointment with us.
If you are considering an ambulatory (worn) ECG, a 30-minute consultation — either face-to-face or remote — will be required to discuss your symptoms and the most appropriate monitoring period.
Ambulatory ECGs are worn continuously for 24 hours to up to 14 days and are used to investigate ongoing or intermittent heart rhythm problems that may not be detected on a standard ‘snap-shot’ ECG.

Vitalograph (Spirometry) Testing – £50
Vitalograph (Spirometry) Testing
A Vitalograph (spirometry) test is a simple breathing test used to assess lung function. It measures how much air you can breathe in and out, and how quickly you can exhale — helping to diagnose and monitor conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Vitalograph testing can usually be completed during your appointment. If additional time is needed, it can also be arranged separately — either before or after your consultation, or on another day if you prefer. Please note, arranging Vitalograph testing after your appointment for another day would incur an additional charge — usually the 15-minute follow-up appointment fee of £80, plus the cost of the Vitalograph itself.
